Common forging methods of forged flanges and their advantages and disadvantages
Advantages of free forging of forged flanges:
(1) Forged flanges have great forging flexibility, which can produce small forged flanges of less than 100kg, and heavy forged flanges of more than 300t; (2) The tools used for free forging of forged flanges are simple general tools; (3) The forming of the forged flange produced in this way is to gradually deform the blank in different regions. Therefore, the tonnage of the forging equipment required to forge the same forged flange is much smaller than that of the model forging; (4) The free forging of forged flange requires low accuracy of equipment; (5) Free forging of forged flange the production cycle of forged flange is short.
Disadvantages and limitations of free forging of forged flanges:
(1) The production efficiency of free forging of forged flange is much lower than that of model forging; (2) The forged flange produced has simple shape, low dimensional accuracy and rough surface; The labor intensity of workers is high, and the technical level of forging flanges is also high; (3) It is not easy to realize the mechanization and automation of forged flange production.
Advantages of die forging for forged flanges:
• die forging of forged flanges is more efficient. During die forging, the deformation of metal is carried out in the die bore, so the required shape of forged flange can be obtained quickly;
• it can forge forged flanges with complex shapes, make the distribution of metal streamline more reasonable, and improve the service life of parts;
• the forged flange of die forging has accurate size, good surface quality and small machining allowance;
• save the materials of forged flanges and reduce the workload of cutting and processing.
• under the condition of sufficient batch, the cost of forged flanges can be reduced.
