Why Do The Stainless Steel Flanges Leak?

Why do the stainless steel flanges leak? Stainless steel flange connection is mainly used for the main road connection valves, check valves. Water meters, water pumps, etc., and pipes often removed and repaired. Flanges are mainly used for parts between pipes and fittings, valves, equipment, etc. Is one of the indispensable parts in the pipeline system, but flange in the process of pressure test and production, prone to flange leakage, stainless steel flange leakage has many reasons, the main reasons are (1) stainless steel flange installation error, such as mismatch, offset, mishole, opening, offset is the more common cause of flange leakage, the so-called offset means the pipe and flange is not vertical, different heart, flange surface is not parallel, when the internal medium pressure exceeds the gasket load pressure, flange leakage.(2) The use temperature of the stainless steel flange refers to the temperature of the medium and the external use temperature. Due to the thermal expansion and cold contraction of the fluid medium, the bolts expand or shrink, causing gaps in the gasket, and the medium will leak through the pressure. If the medium in the pipeline connected by the flange is relatively low / high, and the external use temperature is relatively high / low, the flange is affected by the dual effect of the leakage during the use process.(3) Corrosion of stainless steel flange medium. Due to gasket long corrosion by corrosion media, chemical changes, gasket began to soft, compression force loss, gasket in flange connection failure, causing leakage of flange installation stainless steel flange, the two flange docking, should be more standard and standardized, but in the system production, the pipe into the medium after the pipe temperature changes, pipe expansion or deformation, the flange is affected by the bending load or shear force, easy to lead to gasket failure.
