A socket weld flange is similar to a sliding flange in that the reverse hole is slightly larger than O.D unless it has the dimensions of a hole and a reverse hole. Piping is to insert the pipe into a sliding flange like a flange. The diameter of the smaller hole matches the inner diameter of the same pipe.
